Henrietta tried to sleep when she got home. It had been a long day and she knew there would be more things demanding her attention the next day, but the minute her head hit the pillow, a bout of insomnia descended on her.

She turned on her side. Then tried the other side. Then she tried sipping some water. Then she had to go to the bathroom. Finally, at one in the morning, she gave up the fight and made her way into the kitchen. After putting on a pot of coffee, she pulled out Seamus’s logbook. The thought of it had been haunting her since she’d found it and now seemed like the best time to examine it.

After making a piece of cinnamon sugar toast and taking a sip of the mildly strong coffee, Henrietta pulled out the book and began to look through it. After Erwin had mentioned the type of code he saw in the margins of the Russian book, she’d looked at it as well. Now, seeing the logbook, two things were apparent. It was certainly Seamus’s writing in both the logbook and the Russian book, but it was also most certainly in code. Or, at least some of it.

Biting her lip, Henrietta began to jot down notes. She could see that the logbook, while not written out fully, did hold some obvious notations. Rent for the private slip. Dive equipment. And lots of payments to and from someone Seamus only referred to as G.

Henrietta had started in the most recent section of the logs, but soon she began to see that the pages held little to interest her. She began to flip backwards and finally gave up, starting at the beginning.

The start turned out to be intriguing, and she studied the very first page. It listed amounts that she assumed had been borrowed and next to them were sets of initials. Checking on through the pages, she confirmed her suspicion that these had been loans, as they’d been entered in as income, but from whom?

Looking back to the first page, she noticed that the larger amounts came from a set of initials: DWC. She riffled through the logbook pages and noticed many instances of money borrowed from DWC. Odd. Who was DWC? Was it the initials of a person? A company? Did it have something to do with the casino but no one had wanted to admit that to her? Then again, Scott had told her the money entering Seamus’s account couldn’t be traced, but that he was positive it wasn’t from the casino. Perhaps it was a private friend from the casino then?

Her mind fogged and she leaned back, taking a sip of coffee. The warm liquid slid down her throat and warmed her to the core. It also invigorated her with the jolt of caffeine, and she continued her search.

Several other things stood out to her in her search through the various pages. Alongside many inputs and a few payouts to G, she also saw one notation to G that was different.
